Here is the DOPPLER ER2 drive, it is the cheapest complete drive on the market. It uses a roller system unlike most other drives that on 103 SP / MV / MVL / VOGUE ... Uses a system of pushers matelotes. This drive was tried by our team it turned out that it is really high performance! The cut of the cheeks is well seen, the rollers provided are well studied (a heavy game for torque engines, a light game for powerful engines at high speed).
We will however recommend an adjustable motor spring like Doppler, and a DOPPLER or MALOSSI belt in perfect condition! This variator is still fragile, the wear of the cheeks with a belt in poor condition or poorly callused motor will be fast! We had also a small problem with a very powerful motor on the stand supports which can be removed on some series, problem adjusted thanks to a drilling / threading with grub screws au'aine / 3mm of each side. As on all drives, there is a small flaw that with some DIY are resolved very quickly.
We will say that on an original engine or well equipped, this drive if it is well accompanied and mounted will have no problems. This vario, however, will not accompany very well a powerful engine. It offers a really huge acceleration, the rise and decent is well longitudinal, the settings are not very complicated, it is a good variator. We could still gain acceleration with a smaller diameter gun (25mm as VARIOTOP MALOSSI) but this drive preserves a big asset, it is very light!
The ER2 without clutch is in direct drive (unless you have a clutch pulley).
