The Clearance must be selected according to the forcing on the piston pin but also according to the engine speed! In general, using the example of a crankshaft bearing, we will take a cage with very little play for an engine that takes low revs because it does not require much freedom! However, on a very high speed engine, if the cage has very little play, at very high speed it risks entering the phenomenon of seizing / overheating and risks yielding in addition to slightly restricting the engine speed.
