Here is the DOPPLER ER2 drive with or without clutch (your choice), it is the cheapest complete drive on the market. It uses a roller system unlike most of the other Racing variators which on MBK 51 uses a system of push rods. This variator was tested by our team and it turned out to be really high performance !!!
The cut of the cheeks is well seen, the rollers provided are well studied (a heavy clearance for torquey engines, a light clearance for powerful engines at aut regime). We will however recommend an adjustable mainspring like the Doppler, and a DOPPLER or MALOSSI belt in perfect condition! This variator is still fragile, the wear of the cheeks with a belt in bad condition or a badly stuck motor will be fast!
We also had a small problem with a very powerful motor on the column supports which can be removed on certain series, problem solved thanks to a drilling / threading with groin / 3mm grub screw on each side. As on all the variators, there is a small defect which with some tinkering is solved very quickly. We will say that on an original motor or well equipped, this variator if it is well accompanied and mounted will not have any problems.
This vario will not, however, accompany an overpowered engine very well. It offers really enormous acceleration, the rise and decent is good longitudinal, the settings are not very complicated, it is a good variator. We could still gain in acceleration with a smaller diameter barrel (25mm like the VARIOTOP MALOSSI) but this variator preserves a big advantage, it is very light !!!
Model with clutch : Only for MBK 51 with kick start !!!! A small bearing is located on the barrel, which allows the machine not to stall at fire, at stops ... This system does not however allow you to start with the stroller, it is obviously much less efficient than a clutch pulley but that works well.
Model without clutch : Direct drive, unless you use a DOPPLER clutch pulley for example!
